Mt. Cook on a Clear Day

Driving toward Mt. Cook, we passed our first aqua colored lakes. The color comes from "rock flour" and the runoff of a glacier. The first day we hiked up to the bottom of the mountain, and the second to Sealy Tarn. Mark continued upward to the Mueller Hut. On the evening of the 14th February we camped beside Lake Pukaki and ate dinner overlooking the clear skies and prominent Mt. Cook. Many never see the mountain top since it is often covered with clouds. Our lucky day. Happy Birthday Pat.
